Shampoo first, conditioner second.’ We’ve heard this chant a million times and have never even questioned it. However, the latest hair trend throws this mantra right out the window! That’s right, hair experts all around the globe are insisting that we first condition our hair and then cleanse it. As crazy as it sounds, it actually makes sense!

By conditioning your locks first, you provide your tresses with all the hydration it needs, without weighing it down. Not only is your hair getting the nourishment it needs, but the conditioner creates a base which allows your shampoo to distribute evenly throughout your hair. As if these benefits weren’t enough to convert us, conditioning your hair first allows it to detangle easily and thus decreases the chances of hair breakage.

To really get the most of this method, wet your hair completely before applying conditioner. Once your strands are completely saturated with water, liberally apply conditioner from the mid-lengths to the ends. Allow the product to absorb for 5-7 minutes while you finish the rest of your shower routine. Then, rinse out the conditioner using your shampoo. It’s literally that easy!
