Our stand on fairness creams or “brightening creams” (as they’re sometimes called) has always been clear – celebrities please stop endorsing them! We don’t need our favourtie stars promoting the blatant lie that the only thing that’s standing between you and your full potential is the color of your skin. Like, can we stop pretending that the natural pigmentation of skin is an urban myth and that all my life problems will be solved if my skin was only a few shades lighter. Emraan Hashmi seemed to agree with us for most parts of this fairness cream ad he just did, but the plot twist in the ad is something we’re still wrapping our heads around.
