After all the androgynous silhouettes, warrior Princess looks and a collection by the upcoming designer stars on Day 1 at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015, Day 2 took a different turn. This day was dedicated to the Indian handloom and textile industry. *Proud moment*

The show opened with Swati and Sunaina who highlighted Indian textile with their Banaras Reinvented collection. With white jasmine flowers a.k.a Gajra in their hair, the models stepped onto the runway with a modern take on gorgeous sarees from finely woven fabric. Rinku Sobti‘s collection completely drew me in. With an upbeat tune playing in the background, we witnessed modern cuts, fitted silhouettes and a whole lot of tassels! Gauahar Khan walked as the showstopper and looked stunning! Shruti Sancheti‘s collection, Pinnacle showcased prints with vibrant and rich colours woven into a collection full of capes, breezy jackets and tassel earrings!

Lisa Haydon walked for Swati Vijaivargie and completely blew us away. Not just her, the designs were strong and featured modern cuts with beautiful prints. Divya Sheth‘s collection exuded royal and rich vibes.

Ashdeen took us back to the Chinese era with his collection, The Scent of the Orient. It featured beautiful work on lehengas and sarees which was a mixture of Chinese inspiration and a Parsi gara-like embroidery. Karishma Shahani Khan a.ka. Ka-Sha played up these unique fabrics with a lot of layers. We spotted jackets, kurtas and churidars on the runway. Kiran and Meghna’s label, Myoho featured a variety of shapes and silhouettes. Strong hues on long sleeved sheer kurtas made a statement. Pella‘s collection took that a little further. With clean cuts and strong and dark silhouettes, this collection will definitely bring out your edgier side!

Let’s fast forward to Ritu Kumar‘s beautiful Varanasi Weaves collection later that evening. Ritu showcased bridal-wear with immense grandeur and glam. Belted sarees, bustier blouses and sheer gold embroidered kurtas merged with the classical, fusion music in the background. Aditi Rao Hydari looked stunning as she walked down the ramp as the showstopper.

We concluded the day with Anita Dongre‘s Grassroot debut empowering rural artisans. It left us with not a lot of words but only a glorious deserved standing ovation.
