If I had a dollar for each time my friends and I sit around and talk about love, I’d be a very rich woman today. What is it about love and relationships that make them so timeless? I refuse to believe that our ancestors didn’t get intoxicated every once in a while and drunk-wrote (the traditional version of drunk-dial, duh!) a beloved.

Relationships are constantly evolving and it’s high time that we catch up with the evolution. It seems like it was so much easier back in the day. Well definitely less complicated, if not easier. There was a set of rules you followed and your only goal was to make it work no matter what. They forgot one tiny detail though – just because your relationship isn’t over, doesn’t mean it’s not a failure. Thankfully, our generation has a better understanding of love and other wild animals; or so it seems.

We’re all about making our own rules and everyone seems to be pro-choice about everything. We aren’t oblivious to the fact that long distance is hard in today’s day and age (no telephone from Rangoon!) and that the latest dating app is available at our disposal every second. We have friends who’re in successful live-in relationships and friends who’ve stepped out of marriages because they weren’t willing to settle.

While we’re making these rules as we go along, we have to realize that it’s pretty damn stressful for everyone involved because we often find ourselves at the threshold of tradition and modernity – especially when it comes to love. Commitment issues are a big reality because we never want to let go of the belief that there’s someone better out there for us.

Sadly, though Bollywood is still attempting to push the envelope on this front and deal with the reality of modern day relationship, we don’t have any such pioneer in the world of Television. And this is when I thank the internet for the one millionth time because I came across this amazing little web series called #LoveBytes on SonyLIV. Directed by Vishal Mull, the show stars Kushal Punjabi and Sukhmani Sadana. It tells the story of Abhishek and Ananya who live together and the trials and triumphs of their relationships. Check out their website and watch the second episode here miss.ml/1L48Cym
