Which is your favourite quote that motivates you? – Suhana AK
No, nothing really. But I always tell myself that ‘believe in yourself, things will happen’. That’s the confidence I started with and that’s the confidence which has got me here, and that’s why I have done things differently from every other actor. I was told, “you need to really promote yourself, you need to do this, you need to shout out loud that your film is a big hit and blah blah blah!” I didn’t need to do all that and I won’t do all that. So be yourself and don’t change.
What do you like to cook the most? – Sijan
I love to cook. I don’t cook a lot these days but one of the Sundays in 3 or 4 months. I have a big family, apart from my wife, kids, mother and father, I also have two sisters and their kids. We also go out on holidays together so it’s like 20-25 of us. I cook for them and they love my food. I think I am a very good cook. I can’t tell you the recipe, it’s just what comes to your mind and I think that has been picked up by my daughter, she’s a good cook too. She’s 12 and she cooks amazingly, she bakes amazingly.
How did you and Kajol get close when you first met her? – Anjali
It’s a very boring love story. It’s something like we met and I never used to talk too much and her attitude was ‘why is he so snobbish?’ And we started working together and started knowing each other. And there was never a proposal, gradually that friendship went into love and we decided to get married.
What do you like the best thing about acting? – Ishita Mukherjee
It is the creativity. If there is no creativity there won’t be any fans. Right now, people think that you can perform so you have to justify it. I’m a very, very lazy actor – I do everything very spontaneously – I can’t rehearse, I can’t remember lines. Once the take starts, I myself become the character and as soon as it cuts, I become myself. I don’t learn my lines, I understand the jist of it and then I speak myself.
How would you entertain Nysa and Yug for a day if Kajol was away? – Swagata Dam
I just spend time with them, I don’t need to do anything. Maximum their demand is ‘take us out for swimming’. Apart from that my daughter likes to talk and with her it’s so comfortable that we just need to be in the same room and not talk for hours and that comforts you a lot. My son keeps playing around.
How do you unwind after a hectic day of work? – Raghav Tibrewal
I do nothing, either I have office work, I don’t shoot after 6 most of the time. I believe I need to shoot 9-6 and Sundays take an off. I go home and spend time with the children. That is the best way to unwind. I have a drink and just chill with them or watch a movie with them.
If you were picked to act as a superhero, which would you pick? – Din Nisah
I would like to create one. But out of all these, my favourite is Superman.
Why don’t you dance much in your movies? – @INatalwala
Because I can’t – I’m terrible at dancing. And I try my best to avoid. Everybody tells me ‘now this song you’ll have to dance’ and I’ll find an excuse or reason not to. I remember we were shooting for a film quite a few years ago with Ash and Sanju. Sanju was not shooting that day and he knew that I was shooting for the song of the film. He purposely came on the sets to embarrass me and to watch me dance. When he landed up there, he saw me sitting and just Ash dancing. He’s like ‘how do you manage this?’
If you weren’t an actor, what would you be? – Amelia
I would definitely be a part of the film industry because that’s where I grew. I would be directing or doing something like this.
