Katti Batti has not done well at all at the Box Office. Though the opening day was decent, the weekend didn’t show any momentum whatsoever. The picture was clear there and then that the word of mouth for the film wasn’t positive. This reflected on Monday itself when the film crashed entirely. The rest of the weekdays were a mere formality as the collections continued to come sliding down. This resulted in the first week collections of a mere 22.5 crore, which is downright disappointing.

For director Nikhil Advani, this is a second letdown in a row after Hero. For Imran Khan, this is a hat-trick of flops after Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Dobaara and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. For Kangana Ranaut, this is her second back to back box office failure, if one includes her delayed release I Love NY.

The film’s theatrical failure can be well gauged from the fact that the collections are just a few lakhs more than Bombay Velvet (22 crore), 2015’s biggest disaster so far, much smaller Alone (22 crore) and similarly mounted Mr. X (22 crore). Also, though the weekend collections were similar to Hamaari Adhuri Kahaani, the first week is much lesser than that (27.1 crore) and the lifetime collections would be nowhere in comparison to the Emraan Hashmi-Vidya Balan starrer (39 crore).

The only silver lining is that producers UTV would still not be impacted much as the film’s satellite rights have already been sold for a good price and the cost of production is only 20 crore.

Another release of the week, Meeruthiya Gangsters, came and went with negligible collections.
