We’ve all been through breakups; some were heartbreaking and others were, well, emotionally scarring. You accept people for the way they are – but sometimes their habits – big or small – start becoming the most annoying things about them. I asked some girls why they broke up with their exes and while some of their answers made perfect sense to me, others just made me go ‘but, why?’. Anyway, I have listed them down for you. Check it out!

1) “He had really weird toes and that’s a deal breaker for me!”

2) “He was so sexist. I couldn’t stand him after some time.”

3) “I don’t think we wanted the same things out of a relationship, and I didn’t feel loved enough. So even though I really liked him and would have wanted it to work out (it started out so well!), I eventually had to let go. It wasn’t fair to me that I wasn’t getting what I wanted out of a relationship, and it wasn’t fair to him that I was asking for things that weren’t coming naturally to him. So it didn’t make sense to continue like that.”

4) “Saying I love you way too fast is a big deal breaker, especially when you haven’t even known each other too well. This has happened to me more than once and I kind of go “no” in my head.”

5) “Well, he had really bad manners. I’m very big on being polite and treating people the way you would want to be treated. For guys, that means he should reply to my messages and confirm plans, and sticking to confirming plans. If canceling (which is totally disrespectful of my time), then re-scheduling should be his responsibility.”

6) “He had too much ego. He was like “I’m too cool for school” types and I was like ‘humble yourself bruh!’. And just 3 months ago, I found out that he had also cheated on me many times when we were together. ASSHOLE!”

7) “Okay, so he had really bad spellings – Yes, you can be ‘u’ and ‘ur’ but no ‘hey wsup wat tym u wana meet anytym?’”

8) “I break up a lot, I feel. Yes, I have problems. The reasons may be varied, though, but over the years I’ve come to realize is that my biggest deal-breaker is needy. I can’t text back all day and I’d pick sleep over phone calls that last till 3 am on most days. It’s important to me that I have weekends that don’t involve him and I should be allowed to spend my free time with myself doing nothing. Basically, it’s imperative for the relationship that both parties also have separate lives. “

9) “Umm, he lagged behind on personal hygiene. I don’t care if your room is messy, just please shave your pubes on time.”

10) “It may sound petty, but I cannot be with someone who doesn’t get my jokes or movie references.”

11) “Personally, it bothers me if the guy I’m with doesn’t take his job seriously. Work ethic is important.”

12) “I wasn’t ready to commit and be in a serious relationship because I was very young. I took him for granted then and when I finally wanted to be in it, he moved on.”

13) “I was in a serious relationship of more than 3 years; it was long distance for us, and he cheated on me in the first year. I didn’t have proof so didn’t end it (also because I didn’t want to believe it and wanted it to work) but I could never trust him which led to fights and then finally I ended it 2 years later because I was over it. (Also I finally found some proof which made me very happy that I had a reason to break up.)”

14) “In general, I get put off when a guy becomes serious too soon. It’s very important for me to think the guy’s better than me (for lack of better words). Basically, I should respect him – he should have his own life and should make me want to do/be better.”

15) “It was long distance and we had very stressful jobs. And then he cheated. THE END!”

16) “Oh god! He had these unhygienic living conditions and he had hair lice!”

17) “It was because he was over possessive, insecure and had trust issues.”

18) “It was just many things at the same time – he was too possessive, doubtful, clingy, emotional over random shit. Then we got into a long distance relationship because he went to study abroad. He was too immature and took me for granted.”

19) “I might sound like a bitch, but I wanted to explore more sexually. Maybe because he wasn’t very good in bed. It just felt like I was settling for less.”
