Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently met up with Rajeev Masand to talk about her much-awaited comeback. The actress spoke at length about working with Ranbir Kapoor in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and how their fresh pairing is a good sign of things to come. Here’s what she said –
I think it is refreshing that Karan is doing what he is doing as a filmmaker. His cinema has always excited the audience. I was very very happy. First he shared (the story) with me and I thought he was just talking about it. And then he said, I’d like you to play this part, and I was like seriously, it’s an easy yes. Karan and I have been meaning to work together since his first film. It’s amazing how life has come a full circle and I’m glad it has eventually worked out.
On doing something refreshingly different even in a Karan Johar film. I think that’s always excited the actor in me, because I tried to do that even with Iruvar (her first movie). As an actor, I am open to the craft, mould me, cast me if you need to. Let this be the director’s medium and let us enjoy the magic of cinema. I was doing that in Iruvar and I’m glad I’m doing it today. Whatever it takes, because these are stories being told and they are not far from reality because this is the world we are living in.
