As part of the promotions for Tamasha, Imtiaz Ali and his Tamasha team – Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone – took a train from Mumbai to Delhi. They stopped at a few stations along the way to greet travelers and the media, so it was quite the photo opportunity for everyone involved! Kind of random that they’d take a train from Mumbai to Delhi to promote the film, considering it’s set mostly internationally, but then again, it’s Imtiaz Ali – he’s got a thing for trains! Here’s a look at some photos as well as a timeline of events:
3:20pm – Ranbir and Deepika arrive at Mumbai Central, pose for photos and then proceed to the station master’s office to await their train’s announcement.
4:00pm – The train arrives and the actors board.
4:15pm – Ranbir turns photographer; takes photos of the team using his GoPro.
5:00pm – Train journey begins; ticket checker visits the team and poses for photos.
5:30pm – Team tries the train’s ‘special coffee’.
6:00pm – Ranbir decides to take the window seat (ha, ha – Tamasha‘s working title was Window Seat!) nearing sunset.
7:00pm – Deepika produces her picnic basket filled with goodies.
8:27pm – Train reaches first stop of Vadodara. Media and travellers crowd the platform to catch a glimpse of the team.
9:00pm – Ranbir, Deepika and Imtiaz order their lunch from the pantry and interact with the chefs.
11:00pm – Deepika reveals the Karaoke Kit she brought and plays popular tracks for the rest of the team.
3:00am – The train halts at Kota (Jab We Met reference, heeey!). The team steps out, drinks tea and poses for pictures.
4:00am – Lights off!
7:55am – The train reaches its destination on-schedule; greeted by Delhi media.
