Times Of India has reported that the Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a chargesheet in the Jiah Khan case. In 2013, Jiah was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her Juhu apartment in Mumbai, many believed that the cause of her death was suicide but her mother Rabia approached the High Court to probe further in the matter. The CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad has spoken about the case to the media –

The High Court has directed the CBI to consider whether this is a case of suicidal or homicidal death. If it comes to a conclusion that it is a homicidal death, then further probe be made to find out who is the perpetrator of the crime and accordingly action be taken.

The Mumbai Police had already filed a charge sheet on January 11, 2014 under section 306 (abatement of suicide) of the IPC. But after Rabia’s appeal, the High Court transferred the case to the CBI as the forensic opinion privately obtained by Rabia varied with the one obtained by the Mumbai Police, suggesting there was a discrepancy in the investigation.
