When it comes to being attracted to someone and picking a life partner, we all have our own individual quirks and preferences – tall, funny, romantic, independent, successful, good-looking, etc. These are the kind of qualities that some people will consider to be the make-or-break variety, while others will place less importance in them. However, there are certain qualities that mostly everyone considers absolutely crucial in a relationship: they are the foundation and building blocks of any successful relationship, and without them, something always seems wrong.
Most important, perhaps, is finding someone who is supportive of you. It doesn’t matter how big or small your goals are – just going through life with someone by your side and knowing that they’ve got your back is a blessing. ‘Encouraging’ goes hand-in-hand with ‘supportive’ – you want someone who not only accepts you as you are, but also helps you become the best version of yourself. And, of course, you want someone who loves and cares for you and will stand by your side through it all.
It sometimes feels hard to find this person, which is why so many of us are excited and ready to make a commitment when we find a partner like that. But what happens when this person comes along at a time we least expect it? This is exactly how Dharaa, the main character in Star Plus’ new show Tamanna, feels. She has grown up with the passion for cricket burning inside her, and wants to follow her dreams of becoming a cricketer. However, she reaches a crossroad in her life when she gets a marriage proposal on the same day that she is accepted to play State-level cricket! Luckily for her, the proposal is from Mihir, a guy who she feels would be the ideal partner for her. She accepts the proposal, they get married, and then he surprises her with a sweet gesture: he takes her to Eden Gardens for their honeymoon – something that makes her happy and gives her hope that she can continue to pursue her dreams.
This is something we all want – the freedom to follow our own path while still having someone by our side who supports, loves, encourages and cares for us. But having said that, it’s never that easy: life is a balancing act, and Dharaa will need to be able to invest in her marriage while still having the ability to follow her dreams. The question is, can she do this? In this new journey, will she be able to keep her passion alive and will not let her dreams die? That’s something we’ll all be waiting to see, but we’re going to continue to hope #HerDreamsDontDie.
