The sixth season of the world’s favourite television series – Game Of Thrones is all set to burn up our screens in two weeks and we’re so excited! The fifth season of the show ended on a very disturbing note, but the upcoming season promises to give solid answers to many questions that have sprung up during the course of this song of ice and fire. On that note, for the people who like to be well prepared before watching the show, here’s a comprehensive list of major things that will definitely happen in the 6th season of Game Of Thrones. Don’t read further if you’re not a fan of spoilers. Of course, all of this, as of now, is speculation, but the proof of these events happening is overwhelming. Check it out!

1) Jon Snow’s parentage will be revealed

Most of the Game Of Thrones fandom is aware that Jon Snow‘s parentage has been a major plot point for the show. In season 1 poor, innocent Ned Stark had promised his ‘bastard’ that he’d talk about his mother when he returns from King’s Landing, what happened next… well…

Coming back to season 6, Bran Stark (who also returns after a hiatus) will learn a lot from the three-eyed raven he finally found at the end of the 4th season. His visions will get stronger and his ability to control minds will make him a force to reckon with. In these visions, he’ll be taken back to the time Jon Snow was born in the Tower Of Joy. This tower was the place Ned Stark’s sister, Lyanna was kept as a ‘prisoner’ (or a lover?) by Rhaegar Targaryen. Avid fans of the book series have long speculated that Jon is Lyanna and Rhaegr’s son and Ned kept that a secret because Robert Baratheon (who was in love with Lyanna) would have murdered the child. So this season, we might finally know if Jon is a bastard or not.

2) The Mountain v The Hound

The Mountain is the horrific man who murdered Oberyn Martell, and in turn, got killed himself. But did he die? No! Cersei‘s favourite maester Qyburn made him into this Frankenstein-ish monster. Now after Cersei’s walk of shame, the Queen regent is going to have her revenge and ask for trial by combat. Her champion will be the weirdly resurrected Mountain (who is called Robert Strong now) and the Faith will obviously bring their warrior to fight this. Now, there’s a theory that The Hound might be the one, fighting on behalf of the sparrows. ‘But the Hound is dead!’ I hear you say, especially after Brienne seriously wounded him and Arya left him to die. But superfans truly believe that a quiet gravedigger (who Brienne will stumble upon this season) at the Quiet Isle is actually Sandor Clegane, who abandoned his persona as the Hound to live a new life. This theory is called Cleganbowl, and it’s getting a lot of HYPE!

3) Battle of the bastards

Now that Sansa Stark and Theon Greyjoy have finally escaped the clutches of Ramsay Bolton, it looks like the worst villain of GOT (okay Joffrey ties with him) will definitely want revenge. But now the Stark loyalists of Winterfell will rally around the true heir, Sansa Stark and fight the big war. There might also be a major character (who is also a bastard like Ramsay) play a very important part in this battle.

But more on that later.

4) Another Greyjoy will rise

It looks like Theon will return to the Iron Islands and a major book character, Euron Greyjoy will make an appearance. Euron is a swashbuckling pirate who might take over the Greyjoy stronghold after supposedly planning the murder of Theon and Yara‘s father Balon Grejoy. The Greyjoys could also be playing a major role in the battle against the Boltons. Now, that’ll be cool!

5) Khaleesi’s dragons will get REALLY big

Daenerys Targaryen escaped the fighting pits on the back of her faithful dragon Drogon, but the Breaker Of Chains has now been captured by the Dothrakhis. It seems like the Khaleesi (or former Khaleesi) will be kept prisoner there, and while her faithful aides Jorah Mormont and Daario Naharis are on a quest to find her, it seems like her dragons will finally be at their ferocious best, now that their mother is in danger and all.

6) Jon Snow’s return

He’s coming back! He has to! The story makes no sense if Jon Snow isn’t there. How he’ll come back is a much discussed point though, but the most popular theory seems to be Melisadnre‘s ability to resurrect the dead. It seem like Davos and Melisandre will bring back Jon with the help of the red god, and everyone’s favourite bastard won’t be a ‘snow’ anymore. This time, he will take on his rightful place as the son of a Stark and Targaryen union. Making his story, the song of ice and fire.
