Mamta Kulkarni and Vicky Goswami‘s story sounds like the plot of the later seasons of Breaking Bad, without the cancer and Jesse Pinkman. As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, the Thane police recently seized 20 tonnes of ephedrine in a haul, and they’re now investigating Mamta’s role in it. The police has made this analogy because Mamta’s Kenya-based husband, Vicky, has been established as the kingpin of this drug operation.
Vicky is allegedly a well-known serious drug offender. He was arrested for drug trafficking in Dubai in 1997 where he had to serve 15 years in prison. He then married Mamta and moved to Nairobi, where fresh charges have been levied against him.Vicky has also been named as the prime suspect after the police received information about his operations from the United States’ Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) on Tuesday, thus making him a wanted man in the United States and India. Senior Thane officers have not given details about Mamta’s role in her husband’s drug syndicate, but sources in the police have said that she was the face of the ring. According to a Thane Police officer who doesn’t want to be named – Vicky asked Mamta to meet clients in Dubai, Singapore, South Africa and the US, as he couldn’t travel outside Kenya because of an Interpol notice against him. Mamta reportedly struck business deals with drug networks in Maharashtra, and Vicky used her name to carry out bank transactions. Mamta’s name has never come under the authorities’ scanner until now.
