Here’s a piece we found in DNA, which we thought would be an interesting read. When Sooraj Barjatya was making Maine Pyar Kiya, he auditioned a number of ladies to star opposite Salman Khan. One of them was Dilip Kumar‘s niece Shaheen Banu, who did a screen test for the part but failed to get the role. Many reports also claim that Salman and Shaheen dated for a while. Now, after more than two decades, Sooraj was looking for a heroine opposite Salman again for Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo, and one of the girls who auditioned for the role which was eventually played by Sonam Kapoor was Shaheen’s daughter Sayesha Saigal! Apparently, when Shaheen decided to accompany Sayesha for this audition, Sooraj found it strange to cast the daughter of the woman who could have been Salman’s heroine at one time. It would have been awkward to cast her, given that her mother too had auditioned to romance Salman. Had Sooraj not known whose daughter she was, it would probably have worked. But knowing who Sayesha was, casting her would have been like a real life Lamhe story.
When contacted, Shaheen denied that she or daughter auditioned for any Sooraj Barjatiya film and said these are just rumours. The good part is that Sayesha will be making her debut opposite Ajay Devgn in Shivaay, the strange part is that Bollywood heroes never age, the ladies on the other hand…
