Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut

The Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan battle began as a fight between two people. And in no time, it has got other people involved too who are or were once close to them like Sussanne Khan, Adhyayen Suman, Aditya Pancholi and others.

After suffering from several allegations, Kangana decided to give a candid interview about everything that has happened so far. She was honoured with her third National Award, and on this occasion chose to tell NDTV her side of the story.

1) A woman must answer back with her sarcasm or success.

2) I don’t have to wait for people to give me my due. I have to get up and get it myself. That can lead to conflicts. I don’t mind being a fighter.

3) It doesn’t upset me when people call me names or talk about my period blood. But just don’t call my period blood gross because there is nothing gross about period blood… is there something gross about being a woman? Is there something gross about a man’s bodily fluids?

4) When they are jealous of a woman’s success, the first thing she becomes is a ‘dayan’ (witch); then she goes on to become a whore then she goes on to become a slut. If she is crazily successful, then she becomes a psychopath. If she is sexually active, she becomes a whore.

5) As an actress, I have researched about people with mental illnesses and I don’t find anything gross about people dealing with mental illnesses. I don’t see anything humiliating when they call me a psychopath or a bitch or a whore.

6) As far as physical violence is concerned, apart from that incident of hitting a man with my stiletto, I have never raised my hand on anyone.

7) (When I hit a man)… I was protecting myself. That day I realised that every time you go to hit a man, you end up hurting yourself because that’s how women are made. And I am very proud of my fragile body, soft hands and sharp mind.

8) In these few days, there have been moments when I randomly keep breaking down. I feel cornered and I really feel targetted but then there are cupcakes. You can always fall back on.

9) I cannot pretend to be sorry for things I am not. And I cannot pretend to be somebody I’m not. I don’t know what to do in a situation like this. I wish i had not offended so many people. I wish people were happy with me. I am happy but there are too many emotions flying around on this much-awaited day (National Award).

10) My journey hasn’t been from Bandra to Juhu. It has been from a remote village in Manali to Rashtrapati Bhawan… Even fairytales have villains.
