In an industry, where appearances matter a lot, our celebs are always trying to be in their best shape and dress to impress. And for a girl, who has grown up in a Punjabi household gorging on yummy delicacies, it can turn out to be quite taxing. After all, most actresses have watch what they eat in order to keep a check on their calorie count. In a recent interview to Mumbai Mirror, Richa Chadha shared that she was struggling with an eating disorder. She felt guilty every time she felt hungry and munched on protein bars and guzzled Red Bulls between long hours of fasting.

Then one day, she happened to watch Asif Kapadia‘s Oscar winning documentary, Amy, based on singer Amy Winehouse‘s struggle with drugs, alcohol addiction, relationship problems and bulimia. That’s what made her realise that she needed to do something about her issue. With the help of naturopath, Dr Chintu, and nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar, Richa now enjoys wholesome healthy meals throughout the day. She says:

At a time when the West is celebrating curves, we are ordering fatmelting medicines and living on suppliments which can mess up a woman’s hormones and childbearing ability and lead to sperm and hair loss in men.

True that, girl.
