What do you do when you get to speak to Nimrat Kaur on the phone? Ask her a very important question:

So actors are always told that youth is your prime. Female actresses especially are reminded about their ‘shelf life’ constantly. How do you deal with that?

I’ll tell you what? I entered this industry past my ‘shelf life’, you know? So what was I going to do? I wasn’t 18 when I broke into the scene. I feel like everyone has their own career graph. I can’t deny that actresses do have to conform to a certain age and all of that, but I’m not going to worry about my age or try to look younger or try to look like something I don’t look like just because I’m not 18. I think life and opportunities are much bigger than that. I have seen it first hand. I didn’t even plan for this much, so everything that’s come by is a bonus. I just enjoy the ride and I want to continue to do so. See, ten years later, I’m not even going to be as young as I am now, does that mean I’m going to start worrying that I’m not going to get work then? Absolutely not! If work is meant to come to me, it will ya.

I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this considering your first film was Lunchbox, but will you be okay ageing on screen?

In a heartbeat! Losing a limb, whatever it takes (laughs).
