Mumbai monsoons have finally arrived! Now now, I’m from Delhi and I won’t lie – I’ve had a love-hate relationship with the rains in the city. Delhi has four seasons, Bombay seemingly has one – sweat. However, the rains are a welcome change. I mean, I was unsolicitedly drenched on my first day here some years ago; but that’s another story. The baarish here, like most other things in the city, grows on you and before you know it, you’re in love.
Here’a what no one tells you about the best season in the city:
1. It’s a breath of fresh air…
My God! What a great respite from the humidity!
2. You can finally indulge in the vada pav cliche without judgment…
Yay!
3. Water water everywhere…
From Juhu Beach to Carter Road to Marine Drive…. there’s something for everyone.
4. Music has a new meaning…
5. So does romance…
There’s a reason my 80% of romantic Bollywood scenes have rains as the backdrop.
6. You go late to work…
What? It’s a legit excuse in this city!
7. And schools and colleges shut down…
8. The much delayed Lonavla trip finally becomes a reality…
9. Goa gets back on the cards too – it’s finally not crowded AF…
So what if everything is shut down? Goa is to laze around anyway
10. You finally get to wear your sweatshirt…
Yup. If you’re lucky, it actually gets cold enough to wear something warm. That’s the dream, isn’t it?
