Beer on tap!!!

Three words that makes Homer Simpson the happiest guy on television!

Until recently, India has only had the usual big brands that were available on tap. All that changed when Independent India’s first microbrewery license was granted to Suketu Talekar, an IIM-Bangalore alumni and an ex- brand manager of P&G, with a vision to create the first microbrewery in the country! And thus, Doolally was born!

I decided to check out their Bombay Tap Room in Bandra this weekend, and what I experienced left me impressed… and happy drunk!

The Doolally tap room is a quaint little place near reclamation in Bandra, and very un-assuming, so much so that they have their name written in hindi on the awning and no other fan fare!

MissMalini, our friends and I got there at lunch time on Sunday, and the place was buzzing! The first thing they do is serve you a tray full of samplers of their different craft beers, so you can pick which one you’d like to drink.

They had some very cool options on tap, like the Mango Cider, Apple Cider, Belgian Wit, Hefeweizen, Rauch Bier, American Pale Ale, Coffee Porter, and a Smoked Bacon Infused flavour! You gotta admit, that is a great list of craft beers that aren’t available anywhere else!

The atmosphere was relaxed, the waiters knowledgeable and they had games to keep you entertained if you were in a fun group! For Rs.3000, you can have your own beer mug with a metal name tag, which is placed on their wall of mugs! How cool is that!?

We played an epic game of Jenga while downing our beers, and we soon had an audience!

It was a fun, refreshing way to spend an afternoon, and I’d suggest you try Doolally right away if you haven’t yet!
