So last night whoever attended Sabyasachi Mukherjee‘s Illuminate would have continued dreaming the fairy tale even when they slept (and woke up). The show was beyond perfect being the finale show of Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive ’16. It’s not like we expected anything less from the master, but we were taken by surprise with the sheer grandeur of the masterpiece he created. The runway was set with low chandeliers and had another stage in the background which was covered with blood red curtains until the show commenced. That stage had a 40 piece orchestra presented by the Symphony Of India Orchestra play live for the entire show (yes, goosebumps began on a musical note!).
The collection started with shimmer done in a very Sabyasachi way and moved on to darker colours with every passing sequence. We also spotted Baroque crystal work, Kashmiri tilla work, zardosi, Parsi work, faux fur and feathers highlighting the collection. Every outfit looked like a pure celebration of shimmery metallic and strong contrasting jewel tones.

And then came the moment we forgot we were all waiting for, coz we were so lost in the show. The glowing Kareena Kapoor Khan walked on the runway and the room lit up with cheers!
Kareena wore an ethereal piece from the collection which had magic of jewels and a dramatic mood of dark grey. The resplendent mommy-to-be delicately walked on the ramp and took our breath away! Sabyasachi Mukherjee joined her on the ramp and took his final bow which got a standing ovation from the audience. A perfect end to the perfect finale.
We woke up with a smile that Sabyasachi gave us during his show and we’re pretty sure we’ll be day dreaming about every single moment from last night’s spectacle!
