So I have just about recovered from the last 6 days at fashion week (which went by in such a blur, as per usual) and I want to tell you all my favourite things before I forget! So here you go; take a peek at what goes on behind the scenes and off the runway and see what we see for a change 🙂 xoxo

So here we go! All the awesome things that happened at Fashion Week, that I totally loved and will remember the most, aside from so many breath-taking shows, (in no particular order at all!)

PS. For all the incredible catwalk action though check out Team MissMalini‘s comprehensive coverage here.

1. Staying at the St. Regis.

Look who got fancy kids! No seriously, the St. Regis is truly my favourite hotel in Bombay and I made it home for the week so I didn’t have to mad scramble to and from the hotel everyday. And honestly, every time I’ve been there the service has been impeccable and delivered with a smile, plus they have the most amazingly comfortable beds!
Note to self: find out where they get their pillows from.

Oh and did I mention breakfast in bed? #Winning

2. Hair & make up in mah room!

I’m not gonna lie, I never thought I’d see the day where I’d have a whole crew dedicated to making me look pretty every single day. (Because folks, believe it or not, I do NOT wake up like this!)

I know my stylist Nelly Wadia is probably drinking heavily now that she has to style my indecisive ass, because I CONSTANTLY change my mind about what I want to wear (like on an hourly basis). So congratulations Nelly (you too Sneha, I miss you already *sniff*) and welcome to extreme styling! (Not for the weak-hearted or short-tempered.) And just for the record YOU WERE RIGHT ABOUT THAT DRESS! Big love also to my hair & make up crew, Eshwar, Esther & Justine you are complete rockstars!

PS. #HeadsUpRematch?

3. The King & I!

It was also super fun hanging out at fashion week with my party soulmate and virtual BFF Rij Eappen aka the King of Clubs and hitting up all the shows and lounges. Don’t we clean up real good? (You can check out all his looks on his Instagram @Kingofclubsin.) I think it’s time India had it’s own luxury and nightlife connoisseur, donchya think? Watch this space because there’s A LOT more King of Clubs style party action yet to come. Woo-hoo!

4. The apartment on the 28th floor.

Every fashion week there’s been a bloggers apartment and this year they had a trendy suite on the 28th floor where a bunch of fashion launches, pop up displays and even a birthday party happened!

5. Pre show sneak peeks!

From Facebook Lives to show fittings and backstage exclusives MissMalini got it all!

Even a chance to spot Kunal Rawal’s show stopper Ranbir Kapoor backstage!

And he gives interview hugs!!!

(function(d, s, id) {  var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];  if (d.getElementById(id)) return;  js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;  js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/zh_CN/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3”;  fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

6. I heart sunshine people!

Manish Malhotra was super sweet and gave me so much Twitter love all week!

He also ended his show with a shower of rose petals over the audiences head which was pretty much one of my long-standing Bollywood dreams!

7. A surprise visitor!

During my hair and makeup one day Rohit Bal popped by (in one of his “happy” moods!) and jokingly started doing my hair. I have no words. But it was fun 🙂

8. By the Mekong.

Now I know it’s fashion week but a girls gotta eat! By the Mekong is one of the most epic restaurants in town and their menu – out of this world. That’s because Chef Shi Xi is a legend in his own right!

And of course we savoured dish after delicious dish. My favourite though was the Peking Duck done traditional style. Mind blowing!

9. This guy!

Tarun Tahiliani (aside from being an extraordinary designer) is also one of the most interesting and entertaining people I’ve ever met. His irreverent sense of humour and ability to not take himself too seriously make him so much fun to hang out with. Also his stories, my gosh! I if I could repeat even one… He actually shocked the lipstick off my girls during his interview with an impromptu tumble!!!

10. Style guru spotting!

After their shows you generally find very relieved designers heading to the lounge for a celebratory drink and whenever I got the chance I asked them to say something about how they felt now that it was all over. One of them was pretty Payal Khandwala who’s golden lions from her own brand Tachi were a majestic accent to her show.

And of course there was Kallol being Kallol!

11. Goodness gracias Carol!

I ran into hot mommy Carol Gracias beaming away and looking every bit as ravishing as she did on the runway. Same for Goa baby Binal Trivedi How do you do it girls?

12. Lumee Love

My new geek chic toy has been a hit at fashion week and Kangana Ranaut enjoyed playing with my new selfie light during our post show chat! Rangoli your’s is coming to you stat, I promise 🙂

13. How cool is Kangana?!

It totally made my day that Kangana threw us so much love and said she likes to unwind and scroll though the blog! How cool is that? We love you right back beautiful!

14. Bollywood bestie.

Zayed Khan is one of those people who goes from reciting intense poetry to singing American Pie in the span of 60 seconds and you have to love him for it. After Manish’s show we hung out and had a total BLAST!

15. Look who showed up!

The husband who usually spends all his time being the business end of MissMalini Media took a break to pop by fashion week and ended up with this awesome 007 prisma at the Etihad lounge. LOL. FYI, he has mad Instagram game, go check it out @nrizwanu.

16. Lounge Lumee

If you’re wondering what happens in the VIP lounges by the way, it’s a lot of THIS. Selfies and cocktails. Arshiya Eappen (Mrs. King of Clubs, sorry he’s taken ladies!) and I are partners-in-Lumee love and have revolutionised the selfie game at after parties!

17. Up close and beautiful.

I know this was my beauty blogger’s dream come true! Getting to see the runway hair and make up in progress up close so she can decode it for herself.

As you can see, this season all the designers opted for extremely unique and statement nail art, hair and makeup, something that you’ll see being recreated soon right here so stay tuned!

18. OMG Shahid had a baby!

Meanwhile *cue Bollywood interlude* the Team MissMalini Whatsapp group blew up with the news of Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput having a baby girl! Of course they broke the Internet and probably the hearts of every single Shahid Kapoor fan-girl in the world.

19. Shot yaar!

After their show Shantanu & Nikhil invited us over to Olive to celebrate their epic epic show The Matador’s Mistress and The Mutiny!

I introduced Shantanu to the kamikaze shot and I think he seemed adorably pleased!

20. Bollywood beauties.

At Sabyasachi’s finale we spotted Karisma Kapoor and Deepika Padukone having a bonding moment, much to everyone’s delight. Talk about breath-taking gorgeousness then and now. #Love

21. Room service.

And that was a wrap! I ended my stay at the St. Regis Mumbai with my customary carbonara. Seriously the one thing I order at EVERY hotel. And tearfully bid adieu to my fashion headquarters for a fabulous week.

But of course on Instagram I first posted what I want you to think I’m eating…

v/s what I was actually eating! #Busted

Natasha Patel, hungry kya?

So I hope you enjoyed my little stroll through the off-ramp antics, I’ll be back with more of that in a flash. Leave me a comment if you enjoyed this blog and want more like these!
