Let’s face it, we’re addicted to our phones. We can’t logout of Instagram or quit pinning. I know I practically do that all day long, but for me, it’s research…what’s your excuse?? I follow a lot of models from all over the world and I love that when they aren’t posing in front of the camera, or walking the ramp, they all have really simple, elegant and cool personal styles. And I’m not talking about the Jenner sisters. Everyone knows that the street is just another reality runway for them.

The concept of ‘model off-duty style’ has been the subject of considerable fascination. Have you ever noticed that a models off-duty style will definitely include the following –  trendy, not-too-bothered, always wearing  black, leather jackets, heels, bare faces, sleek hair, vintage pieces mixed with designer ones, or oversized tops or jackets that hide away perfect figures. I personally relate to that kind of style and it’s really not that hard to achieve either. Here are my top 5 model off-duty looks that you can seek inspiration from this weekend:

Black In The Summer

If there is one colour that models love and swear by, it’s black! It can be a 100 degrees outside but an all-black-everything outfit always, always works. Gizele Oliveira is a Brazilian model and has a cool punk vibe. I love the way she has styled an oversized Harley Davidson tee by layering it over a see through skirt, paired with killer ankle booties, and finishing the look with sunnies and a statement bag.

Minimal

Elsa Hosk is a Swedish model living in the Big Apple. I love how minimal and on point her outfit is. It’s the perfect brunch outfit on a hot summer day.

Go Retro

Catching up with friends over the weekend, go retro. Have fun colour blocking your outfit and kicking it old school with retro tracks and a solid coloured tee. Ditch the hand bag for a backpack. Have fun, push the fashion boundaries in a nonchalant way like Emily Kretzer.

Tomboy For A Day

Most women who’s style I admire, dress a bit like men. I love the wide leg trousers, black high neck tank and brogues. This is more than just a look, it’s a mindset – it’s about dressing to please yourself. Transform menswear into an outfit to suit a women’s active, independent lifestyle.

The Boho Girl

High-waisted shorts and a bell sleeved top, paired with either strappy sandals or wedges is perfect for a Sunday brunch date. Keep it easy and flirty. Finish the look with a pair of oversized sunglasses.

Models are known for their legendary street style, after all it comes with the territory. Day in and day out, they are surrounded by the latest trends and styles. However, when models are off duty, they want to be chic and comfortable at the same time. Their trick is looking put-together with ease. Think booties, simple prints, and neutral colours. If you’re more apt to dress girly, tone it down with some tomboy elements like sneakers or a bomber jacket.

Also. it’s Fashion Week time and I can’t wait to check out all the street style pictures from New York, Paris London and India.
