Rumours have been doing the rounds about various cameos in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil for a while now, and it’s no surprise: Karan Johar is known to include people he loves in his films, if only for luck. And while Shah Rukh Khan has been spotted in the trailer and Lisa Haydon has been spotted in The Breakup Song, there is one other celebrity who makes a cameo in the film – none other than Alia Bhatt, Karan’s current favourite.
In an interview to Rajeev Masand, he said:
Don’t believe what you read [about cameos]. Cameos in this film are not like how they normally are. There are no cameos for no reason. Everyone playing a part in the film is there for a reason, barring Alia Bhatt, I would say. By the time this comes, you would know she’s doing a cameo in the film. She’s playing a DJ in the very song we’re in. We had a part for a DJ who was very much a part of the script, so there was a link about how it happens – and I was like, if somebody’s gotta do it, then why not somebody I love?
He’s referring to The Breakup Song, as they shot the interview with Masand on the sets of that song. So Alia will be the DJ in this particular song, but it doesn’t look like her part has been included in the promo cut of the song.
