The couple we’ve been rooting for ever since their first movie together, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh is finally getting hitched in two days. The couple left for Italy a few days ago (all cute and twinning in white at the airport) with their respective teams for their nuptials and it’s only a matter of time before they tie the knot. Amidst all the wait and excitement that we’ve been going through, the invitations for the Mumbai receptions have been sent out and turns out the couple has a no-gift policy for the event. #DeepVeer does not want any gifts but has asked their guests to convert any gifts they want to give them into donations for charity. Both of them have asked their guests to donate to the charity they support The Live Love Laugh Foundation. They’ve also requested the invitees to give their cheques along with certain credentials as well.
Check it out.
Deepika has been quite vocal about her fight with depression and, hence, the couple decided to forego the wedding gifts. It was WeddingWishlist.com that approached the couple and their teams about developing a charity gift registry for them but already knowing their cause of preference, the couple did so directly. However, WeddingWishlist.com has already approached multiple other couples and are helping them select and create a wedding registry with options such as any charity, experience, gift (even cash) and add it to their registry, and have their guests can contribute to the same. It definitely is more socially conscious and a great trend to encourage, isn’t it?
Much like Hollywood celebrities and couples, DP and Ranveer aim to raise more awareness through this and hope that this will encourage more people to join in on this trend. Well, #DeepVeer has certainly won our hearts with this gesture! We hope other couples soon start saying no useless wedding gifts, too! I mean like those big white bowls, how many of those do you really need, right?
The couple will have two receptions, one in Bangalore and the other in Mumbai. The one in Bangalore is on 21st of November and the one in Mumbai will be on 28th of November in the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
