29 March 2008: It took an MMS clip allegedly featuring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur to make their hush-hush affair ‘official’ in 2004. Three years down after much buzz on the grapevine about a break-up between the couple and the entry of the now single (post his marriage to Amrita Singh and rocky affair with Rosa Catalona) Saif Ali Khan into Kareena’s life – all it took was a statement from Saif after they walked the ramp together for designer Manish Malhotra‘s grand finale show at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai to make things official.
“Yes, we are not exactly shouting from the rooftops but yes, clearly we are together. And we are happy together,” Saif said. This came just a day after Shahid announced his single and ready to mingle status to the press. News is that while Saif and Kareena were making their first public appearance at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai, Shahid was spotted celebrating Navaratri at a function in Ahemdabad.
Before Saif and Kareena came out clean about their affair, the couple were spotted bonding on the sets of their new film Tashan and painting the town red while off work at hotspots in Mumbai and Delhi. According to reports Kareena has also bagged a role in Saif’s first home production Agent Vinod.
Ironically the official break-up between Bollywood’s original cute couple Shahid and Kareena came just a week before the release of what’s being touted as their best work so far – a romantic drama titled “Jab We Met.” Kareena met Shahid one last time on Sunday, 30 Sep 2007 at a studio in Goregaon to wrap up their film together.
The Saif-Kareena saga has been under the spotlight all year from their spending Valentine’s Day in Goa, to cross country treks to be together on special occasions. The clincher came when Saif tattooed his lady-loves name on his forearm leaving absolutely no doubt as to where his affections lie.
The latest dope is that Saif and Kareena plan to move in together into a flat in Bandra (Mumbai) which is being renovated and decorated by Twinkle Khanna. No marriage on the cards as yet since Kareena quite clearly wants to focus on her career at the moment and marriage is largely considered career suicide for Bollywood belles.
