Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

Guess what I did last night? I watched Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi like a true blue desi girl at Wilsden Green Cinema (the numero uno destination for Bollywood on the big screen) in my sister’s neighbourhood. I admit it was OTT in parts but I loved it. Perhaps a combination of missing Mumbai and being a sucker for the good old Bollywood forumla romance. I thought Anushka Sharma was fantastic. (FYI Wendell Rodricks picked her as his finale model for Spring Summer ’07 and you’ve seen her do a whole bunch of TV commercials too I bet.) So Shah Rukh was being well Shah Rukh and did the whole dorky nobody bit to perfection. I think his Raj persona was perhaps a slightly retarded clone of Aaamir Khan’s Munna in Rangeela but hey still 100% paisa vasool (money’s worth) as they say back home. You’ll never believe what we spent the better part of the night debating though. Are Shah Rukh’s teeth really that crooked and how come we we never noticed before or was this a clever ploy to make him that much more common? Well it appears he shares Pooja Bhatt’s views about not messing with your God-given chompers and hasn’t bothered to have them fixed or veneered as they say in dental-speak. (And it just so happened that going au natural fit the part this time so they did the extreme close up with wreckless abandon.)  And that’s probably why In “hero” mode) he always smiles like this…
