I’m really excited to watch “Slumdog Millionaire.” It’s finally releasing in Mumbai on the 23rd of January and I have heard so many opinions – both good and bad about the film… but I’m reserving judgment…
Absolutely thrilled for Music maestro A.R. Rahman who has bagged yet another honor by becoming the first Indian to win the prestigious Golden Globe Award and dedicated it to the “billion people of India,” as British Director Danny Boyle’s Mumbai-based saga ‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ bagged four prizes at the ceremony today. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who was at the ceremony to represent India, introduced the film to the foreign audience with ‘Slumdog’ actress Frieda Pinto. Now lets see what happens at the Oscars!
By the by a bunch of films which I’d put on my radar now that off-beat flicks are the flavour of the month check out Balki’s (he made “Cheeni Kum”) new project “Pa” with both Amitabh & Abhishek Bachchan. Jr. B’s costar will be Vidya Balan though because he thinks it would be weird to cast Tabu opp Abhishek after she played the big B’s love interest! For Pete’s saking she was only acting!
Also look out for “Dhobi Ghat” – Kiran Rao’s directorial debut, “Wake Up Sid” starring Ranvir Shorey and Konkana Sen Sharma, “Dev D” Anurag Kashyup’s take on the classic Devdas, “Delhi Belly” becos its supposedly India’s first “adult romantic comedy” and Imran Khan is in it, “Luck By Chance”, Zoya (Farhan’s little sis) Akhtar’s debut, “Teen Pati” the Bollywood version of “21” with the Big B and “Jihaad” with Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor (just because it can’t possibly be worse than Tashan!)
