Gautam Singhania Inaugurated the India Fashion Forum 2009 aside Kishore Biyani, CEO – Future Group earlier this week. Evidentally we’re taking the business of fashion pretty seriously this year with a Obama-esque refrain of “India Can and India Will.”
The highlight of the morning was that India is a land of immense opportunities with a young population with disposable incomes. But the consumer here seeks value-added services which can be achieved through co-operation between different associations yada yada yada…
The first half concluded with a preview of Triumph 2009 couture Collection. (Yes, clearly we’re taking ourselves very seriously this year!)

Day 1 of India Fashion Forum 2009 ended with the glamorous “Evening of Fashion Titans” featuring models like Candice Pinto, Bhavna Sharma, Mashoom Singha and Binal Trivedi in a stunning line of ethnic wear choreography by Alison Kanuga and designed by the house of Chhabra555.
I confess though, with my best friends wedding around the corner I can’t help but notice all the bridal-wear doing the catwalk rounds as my hunt for that perfect (yet elusive) lehnga continues… (So I popped into a little boutique today on Peddar Road (Mumbai) for a quick browse and upon enquiring about the price of a fairly “ok” piece was enlighting that “147” actually means one lakh forty-seven thousand (3,000$) not fourteen thousand seven hundred (300$) as I naively presumed!
