On his fast track to the Oscar’s A. R. Rahman’s been picking up other accolades on the way like his most recent with at the BAFTA awards for Slumdog Millionaire. Rahman bagged the BAFTA award in the best music score category for “Slumdog Millionaire” after becoming the first Indian to win the Golden Globe and getting a triple Oscar nomination in two categories for the same movie! Rahman is also the first Indian musician to win the BAFTA award (Anu Malik eat your heart out.)

Apart from Rahman, Resul Pookutty was the other Indian to win a BAFTA award for best sound editing for “Slumdog Millionaire.”

Slum Dog Millionaire is a drama film directed by Danny Boyle and written by Simon Beaufoy. It is based on the book Q &A written by Indian author and diplomat Vikas Swarup. Loveleen Tandon began as the film’s casting director but was appointed by Boyle as a “co-director”. The film, shot and set in India, follows a humble tea-maker from the streets of Mumbai who appears on a game show and exceeds people’s expectations, raising suspicions from the game show host and law enforcement.
