Shilpa Shetty is back in the limelight. She recently filmed a promotional video for her IPL team The Rajasthan Royals (Shilpa has a 12% stake in the franchise and is also the face of the team.) Shilpa’s doing an almost item number (however dissapointingly) in a Rajasthan Royal’s Tee as opposed to a slinky little cheerleaders outfit.
Shilpa says, “Since the time we conceptualized this video, we always knew that we would shoot it in Jaipur. The entire video has a feel of historical palaces and royalty attached to it. It felt so good to shoot on our home turf.” Shilpa was also quite jazzed about her fan following in Jaipur both (for her and her IPL team) and try not to laugh out loud but she’s clearly taking it all very seriously as she puts it, “I felt a different kind of responsibility during the shoot. The video is meant to evoke a certain kind of feeling in the team’s fans.”
I always marvel at how celebrities take themselves so seriously. Perhaps its time to admit that the Bollywood masala is just a basic ingredient in desiland. We just like all our infotainment with a little song and dance thrown in what’s wrong with that? Like you said Shilpa “It (the song) has a strong Bollywood feel to it. But the IPL is an association of cricket and Bollywood. That’s the way it is meant to be.”
The video will go on air shortly – watch this space for your YouTube fix!
Meanwhile Shilpa Shetty will be hosting a pre-holi bash for the entire team at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai, they won’t be playing with colors but there will be more than enough bhaang to keep everyone flying high!
