Hello and welcome to the first installment of your weekly peak at what the rich and restless will be up to over the weekend – aka a rookies guide to celebrity spotting (and I suppose for the glitterati a quick (reality) check to see who’s guest list you’ve recently been bumped on (or off!) Starting next Saturday (March 21st) you can read this in the Mumbai Mid Day every week!

Thanks to Holi falling mid-week Page 3 partied Monday to Wednesday non-stop with Lakme’s 10 on 10 extravaganza in the run up to Mumbai Fashion Week on Monday night, Dilip Joshi’s rocking retro-tune packed birthday bash at Bling on Tuesday night and of course the recurring Holi hullaballoo (most notably the Zoom bash and Aditya Motwani’s party. I had my own superfun non Page 3 do too and boy was it a blast!) I hear that the social scene is definitely going to be a little less leggy this weekend since most of the model brigade has flown off to Delhi Fashion Week right after rocking it up at fashion choreographer Lubna Adams’ birthday pool-side party at her home on Thursday night.

Meanwhile Rajeev Samant is hosting Sulafest at his vineyard in Nasik this evening and a bunch of the brat pack plan to stay overnight. (FYI if you don’t want to mingle with the masses pick up a VIP pass for 2500rs and save yourself several trips to the bar.) This year the amphitheater will rock to the tunes of Sridhar & Thayil, Shaair and Func (for the second time who brought the house down last hear along with Raghu Dixit), Agnee and Jalebee Cartel. The best bit of course being Rajeev’s legendary after party at his farmhouse where all the artists generally end up doing an informal jam session (and the musically un-inclined end up in the pool or spinning poi*.)

Kishen Mulchandani

Mumbai’s weekend party line up is in fact so sparse “Nothing! Nothing is happening! Just some Stardust night in Malad darling!” that even Kishen Mulchandani is skipping town and heading to Delhi. For the few well-heeled left in town though there are two big races on this Sunday at the Mahalaxmi Race Course; The CN Wadia Gold Cup and the S.C. Jain Sprinters Trophy.  There’s apparently lots of excitement because Maureen Wadia will be playing hostess with most-est at the races this season. Watch this space for your weekly fou-fou fix.
