
A friend of mine posted this on my Facebook today, “Mark Zuckerberg better watch out… Orkut’s gonna come in a big way. Lets see what happens. Check this : wave.google.com. So I did. Turns out Google is soon going to unveil a new tool for communication and collaboration on the web. Developed by the same guys who brought us Google maps! *Exciting*
Wondering what a “wave is?
A wave is equal parts conversation and document. People can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.
A wave is shared. Any participant can reply anywhere in the message, edit the content and add participants at any point in the process. Then playback lets anyone rewind the wave to see who said what and when.
A wave is live. With live transmission as you type, participants on a wave can have faster conversations, see edits and interact with extensions in real-time.
I really like their live text feature on email and the rich text. Also if I can use waves to add pictures to my blog in one drag and drop I swear I will do a victory dance and put it up on YouTube. Technology still blows my mind.
P.S. If you’re wondering how come this video is over an hour long on YouTube, well hello Google owns YouTube. Ergo…
