(My apologies for the plagiarism Prince) but last night I thought of Velocity (remember Velocity?! And that retro room inside where we’ve all danced our 30-year-old hearts out to dancing queen time after time?!) Well Tardeo just got a much-needed new night spot. Not so much a club, Purple Rain is pitched as a trendy kitchen-lounge at SoBo Central (but first up everybody who hates that name “SoBo” as much as I do please stand up.)
(Ok you can sit down now.) Wednesday’s launch party saw a motley crew of the not-so-famous, rich & restless (and somewhat oddly dressed, surprisingly nobody wore purple!) including my fav Ashish Raheja (lol I promise to get over this by next year, consider it my new year’s resolution), Vijay Kalantri, Esther & Raju Daswani, Remu & Naaz Zaveri, Kishan Mulchandani, Brinda Parekh, Sharon Prabhakar and Vinta Nanda bopping to the beats of DJs Ronald & Priyesh (what, no funky DJ names?) I’m told Payal Chopra has done a fab job with the interior design and they play around with the lighting in cool shades of purple. Colorful shots were also doing the rounds, undoubtedly courtesy the shot queen @dazediva :)
The PR dope: “The centre of attraction is the “chameleon theme bar” with its psychedelic illumination and an array of exotic cocktails including Coco Martinis (Purple Rain Special), Margaritas and Mojitos. The brain-child of acclaimed culinary masters Chef Sanjay Malkhani, Chef Bill Marchetti and Chef Max Orlati, Purple Rain comes as the perfect answer for Mumbaikars seeking a world-class gourmet and lounge experience in the city. In an age when, where you are seen, is who you are, Purple Rain blends aesthetics, cuisines, music and personalized service to create a space where one can enjoy a sumptuous meal with business partners or get together for a drink with friends.”
Check it out and tell me whatcya think, and watch this space for a review of the spanking new club Poison opening soon at Atria Mall…
P.S. Its driving me crazy but what was the other Purple something place in Bandra called, you know the one near Golds Gym, somebody? Anybody?!
