So I’ve come to realize that very often the recipe for a great night out involves the following:

1. A good vibe
2. LIVE entertainment (whenever possible)
3. Eye candy
4. Something to laugh about
…and finally (also potentially the most crucial ingredient)
5. An unexpected extension to the party
Thursday night had all of these!

1. Blue Frog itself has great lighting & acoustics and I was pretty impressed with the service, the waiter even remembered my name and gave us a table of his own accord!  + 5 and Good vibes check!

2. DJ Mad Hatter spun up a storm and The Twilight Players brought to life the old-school charm of choreographed dancing, and they did it LIVE (that’s two).

3. Since these guys featured in the movie Dev D. both Kalki Koechlin and Abhay Deol were there to support them – holla eye candy! I LOVE that Abhay Deol always makes time to smile for a picture if you ask nicely (I think this is why everybody loves him, this and the dimples.) This time he even let me shoot him on video (pity it was so dark out – to the makers of Flip we need a light source!)

4. Vir Das and his comedy rock band Alien Chutney kept the house at  Blue Frog in splits with a crazy selection of songs (my favorite was the  audience participation one “We are like this only”) – so we laughed. Laughter – check!

5. And to top it all I ended up at Tote where the IPL party was still rocking (and the DJ also had dimples!) and joined Bandana Tewari and the lovely girls from Besos Swati Shah and Anushka Jagtiani on the dance floor (the top I’m wearing is from their store go buy something. Oh and Happy birthday Anushka!). I love that she says, “nobody comes in between me and my dancing.” I feel the same 🙂 Psst! I have all sorts of random gossip from that night. I’ll just tell it like I (over) heard it and you can make of it what you will!

Overheard at the IPL party…

Rukhsana Eisa is delightfully charming.”
Ravi Shastri should grow his mustache back!”
“Look at that Brinda Parekh strutting her ample bosom for everyone’s benefit!” (!)
“…in terms of celebrity meter thanda, but great music.” (overheard someone telling a friend on the phone)
Gauri Khan and Mallaika Arora Khan are stunningly beautiful. Forget the dancers they are making heads turn!”
(and here’s a text I got from a friend before I got there) Akon keeps performing short clips… two minutes each of Lonely, Nobody Wanna  See Us Together, Smack That, Sexy Bitch… some foreign Abba cover band  opened for him and um… Lionel Richie is here!” (yup like any true social media Jedi I too have informants – beware the Force!)

P.S. last night at Aer Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor attended the huge Mafatlal bash. The came in around 11:45pm with a entourage of 10 people. She was in a hot cream dress, plain but beautiful and flowing, he looked rugged, glares & bandanna. Kareena was grooving the whole time while Saif took it easy sitting down. Hmmmm.
