And here’s a look at Raakesh Agarvwal’s “Première Classe” at the Pearl’s Infrastructure Delhi Couture Week, 2010. The show opened with Mumbai’s own Anushka Manchanda (how cute is she looking btw! Very Renee Zellweger in Chicago, I love it!) belting out “Diamonds are forever” in her unmistakable voice and went on to explore the glimmering flesh tones of fashion…
Spotted: apparently the who’s who of New Delhi like Tanisha Mohan, Ammu Saidi, Cheena Vig, Mala Sekhri, Gunjita Dhawan, Siddartha Tytler, and Gautam Kalra. Raakesh’s supporters Harathi Reddy and Bina Goenka flew in especially for the occasion, and the Aladdin cutie Jacqueline Fernandes was Raakesh’s showstopper.

And now so you can either a) laugh out loud or b) practice being as pretentious as possible, repeat after me (or rather the PR note); “Raakesh’s his blushing pinks move sinuously into fuchsia tones, ending their journey in seductive wines. In material, an unparalleled blend of silks, jerseys, tulle, that cascade flawlessly down the runway like harmonious limericks. Spot a Sprite, ephemeral in a luxe bathing suit like a vision on a yacht or a sun-kissed beach in San Tropez, made of charmeuse lycra a creation of layers of techniques draped and accessorised with an acrylic belt, choker and cuffs… Applaud the nymph as she sashays down the catwalk in a breathtaking gown made of clear and acrylic glass and Swarovski beads styled as a goddess caped gown… The goddess returns to signal the finale ensemble harmoniously highlighting the creator’s vision in a corset – nothing short of a spectacular specimen of pattern… This season, look for Raakesh Agarvwal’s stunning couture debut in New Delhi: a show and a collection that will set the Capital’s style temperature soaring even as the Monsoons approach.”
Oh boy. Note to self: I have GOT to start using words like “harmonious” and “ephemeral” more often 🙂
P.S. If you missed why mega-model Diandra Soares decided to shave her head, here’skinda vaguely why lol (among other things!)
