So here’s what followed the cocktail party on the pier. Seven teams competed with each other on their respective J-24 boats for the coveted Boating Regatta 2010 trophy at the INWTC, Colaba. The wining teams were lead by Cdr Mahesh, Nitin Mongia, Homi Motiwala, Aashim Mongia and Gautam Dutta. I’m not sure who our colorful skipper on the American Express sailboat was apart from the fact that he deals in yachts and had a few hilarious comments to make about the rival skippers he dubbed “Ayesha” and “Basher” for coming a little too close for comfort during the race, lol. The crew of every boat consisted of 2 experts and 6 amateurs (like moi) and apart from a fabulous day spent on the sea I learned to respond lightning fast to commands of “duck” or “tag” when the sail switched sides and yell “no waters!” cheekily at the competing sailboats.
