EXCLUSIVE-2

It really doesn’t matter what personal remarks people have to make about Donatella Versace. Whether she’s a man or not (who cares!) she knows how to dress a woman. Now armed with Christopher Kane, this particular Collection made you want to hang with the cool crowd in school, especially if they were dressed like this. Versus the brand’s youth focused label put up an eye opening collection this Spring Summer 2011. If you’ve seen the video already, you’ll be entranced by the strange yet captivating runway and its music. Held at the Versace Theatro, the runway which was made of real grass and had rusted play ground equipment, was somehow the perfect backdrop for this collection.

This collection is obviously not meant for the timid 20-year-olds out there, but rather the most daring. Each garment had a sexy school girl vibe and was bursting with excitement. Outlandish, but in very successful way the prints and colours all seemed to amalgamate with each other. The progression from plaid, to floral, to stripes and then eventually to colour blocking all flowed together like only Donatella and Kane can pull off.  The dresses work well for most body types, slims girls will look curvy and curvy girls will love flaunting their assets in some of the body con dresses. I’m sure by now the darlings of Hollywood are all bidding to be seen in these dresses.

It might not look it, but this is a smart collection, not only are the clothes commercially viable but so are the accessories. The bags and heels could have had a show all to themselves. The bags and clutches were a whole new level of funky and just plain cool. Sky high heels in the same prints as the collection, will be seen stomping the streets of Milan this summer without a doubt. Hats of Christopher Kane, who is breathing a new life into all of Versace’s Labels. It was Gianni Versace who made me fall in love with fashion, so let’s hope Donatella with the help of Christopher can bring the house back to its former glory.
