Cinemax, Versova hosted the Mumbai premiere of The King’s Speech. In attendance were Divya Dutta, Pooja Bedi, Raageshwari, Prasoon Joshi, Nethra Raghuraman, Meghna Malik, Bobby Darling, Ganesh Acharya, Makarand Deshpande, Shabaaz Khan and Sudhir Mishra. The event wasn’t buzzing with excitement as one would have expected. The celebrities that did show up though were pretty clued in to the Oscar happenings and were hoping for a good performance from Colin Firth. Pooja Bedi and Raageshwari in particular were very charming and had some interesting things to say about both the King’s Speech and Colin Firth. Watch for yourself. 🙂

Even if you wish, you can’t turn a deaf ear to The King’s Speech. The 2010 British historical drama film directed by Tom Hooper and written by David Seidler has won four Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. If that weren’t enough, The King’s Speech is also the winner of 7 BAFTAs and 7 Golden Globes. It goes without saying that the film has attained remarkable success all over the world. The film has Colin Firth playing King George VI, Helena Bonham Carter as Queen Elizabeth and Geoffrey Rush essaying Lionel Logue, an unorthodox speech therapist. The film is about King George VI who is introduced to Lionel Logue to overcome his stutter. The two don’t get along. But when George’s brother abdicates the throne, a friendship is forged. Lionel then helps George make a radio broadcast at the beginning of World War II.
