Neeru Kumar after 30 years has decided to take to the runway at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WLFW) starting April 6th in Delhi. She’s been in the industry for a year but just recently decided to make a mark on a runway and have her first show. For this show she focused on Fall/Winter that keeps in mind the Indian winters. She uses blends of wool, cashmere, linen, cotton and silk which is conducive to even a hot day in winter. Neeru used a neutral palette of browns, cremes and greys, a dull palette but something that works for winter. What is particularly refreshing is the lack of surface ornamentation. Which means – no sequins. Rather she has concentrated on texturization, something she has a wealth of knowledge in as she used to specializes in textiles.
It’s good to see Neeru doing what is done internationally, having a Fall/Winter or Spring/Summer collection 6 months before the actual season. More designers should take the plunge and follow this system, it might give us more fashion credibility world wide!
