WIFW had its fashion’s 5 show this morning, rising talent from fashion colleges and designers who are yet to emerge. The three standouts were Rahul Singh, Dolly J. and Saaj by Ankita. Rahul did great dip-dyed jackets in blues, purples and reds and a lot of printed graphic printed garments. Dolly J. showcased a collection that appeared to be influenced by the matador with red velvet pants that were heavily embroidered and little sequined capes. I personally loved the neck-piece that was on her showstopper. Last was Ankita who took inspiration and paid homage to Ladakh. Her intricate paneling I can imagine took forever to draft! I loved the turquoise stone embellishments and the striking borders on opaque net. None of the collections were Autumn/Winter, but as it was a first show for many of these designers it was about showcasing their identity rather than trend.
