One of the causes very close to my heart is breast cancer awareness; having seen several friends and acquaintances suffer through it’s debilitating physical and emotional effects (and having had a scare myself) I fully support early detection and treatment which can mean a new lease on life for us and all the women we know. I love that Elle organizes The Carnival for a Cause each year and raises funds for the Tata Memorial Hospital. Set against a backdrop of pretty pink butterflies, brightly-colored pinwheels and signature candy-hued pinstripes, the event had a distinctly happy feel to it that allowed people to shop, play games, indulge in nail art, foot massages by Jean Claude Biguine, tarot sessions and even pose for the cover of ELLE for a good cause. The Taj Palace Hotel laid out a fabulous spread and all proceeds from the many kiosks and the silent auction featuring luxury brands and designer wear by Manish Arora, Malini Ramani, Kavita Bhartia, Anamika Khanna, Shantanu & Nikhil, Sabyasachi and Neeta Lulla went in aid of breast cancer awareness. Even the gorgeous Lisa Haydon was there making balloon animals again allowing A.D. Singh to score two different types of head-gear! So cute :)
