As I’m sipping on a skinny caramel Macchiato and wondering what to write, it hit me, fashion is so different here in the US. Especially for a Desi girl like me who just got here, therefore I thought I’d give you a run down of the key trends and shops that are popular here. Before you start your comments, keep in mind that I’m in the cutest little city called Little Rock in Arkansas, where the southern boys are oh so cute and very chivalrous.

The Draped Cardigan

No matter what the weather, even if it’s hot outside, all the women here, young and old throw on a light knit draped cardigan. It’s actually super cute and a trend that’s growing on me too! You get them in practically every colour, and if you’re bitten by the cardi bug, you’ve probably picked one to match every outfit!

Yes they do look like blocks of cement attached to your feet when you wear them, but they’re very effective. I tried on a pair and went for a walk for a week, and can already feel the burn! All the fitness focused have a pair of these, and those who don’t are dazzled by some of the hottest bodies advertising them. Just check out Kim Kardashian’s ad.. steamy! BTW, Brooke Burke has the best body, ever, especially for her age (and 3 kids).

As soon as I arrive, my cousin tells me that there is this amazing store that has the best clothes and everyone is wearing their stuff. So we head on over to the store, and behold, their latest collection is inspired solely by India. Irony, I think so, or is it the shopping Gods telling me that I need to wait to go to Macy’s and H&M in NY?
