Greeted at the entrance by a dazzling white Audi A-4, Mumbai’s champagne-popping Party-Hearties trooped in to the Audi showroom on Andheri’s Link Road on Saturday night for the unveiling of two new supercars – the Audi RS-5 and the Audi A-7.

It took us not more than a few seconds to spot the two stars of the evening, lurking mysteriously on a white ramp and drenched with bordello-like red lights. The two gaadis looked super sleek and ready to conquer the famed pot-hole ridden roads of our city.

As the Bubbly flowed and the amazing House music by Martin & Anoop of NirvaFunk kept everybody in high spirits, we spotted a number of famous faces in the crowd like models Rajneesh Duggal, Tejaswini Kolhapuri and Sunny Kamble; actress Poonam Dhillon and singer Manasi Scott in a form-fitting Shirivan-Narresh outfit which totally accentuated her curves.

In fact, Manasi hosted the event with much aplomb and we were hoping she would break into one of her singing acts but unfortunately, we were not indulged.

The cars (in colours of white and red) were launched with much fanfare that had our favourite top models Candice Pinto, Anchal Kumar, Kavita Kharayat, Sanea Sheikh, Shamita Singha, Shruti Aggarwal and Megha Kawale (amongst others) walk the makeshift ramp in creations by Bollywood costume designer Vikram Phadnis.

Considering this was the launch of a sports car / luxury sedan, we expected the clothes to be a bit more sporty or avant-garde. What Vikram actually showed on the ramp were his regulation lehenga-cholis, sarees and a smattering of western silhouettes that didn’t particularly compliment the personality or the sleek lines of the cars.

However, for the rest of the junta, everything else took a “back-seat” when the luscious Malaika Arora Khan (as the show-stopper) slithered out of one of the cars in skin-tight  leather pants and a golden embroidered bustier and then proceeded to  pose and preen to perfection on the catwalk.

Munni – as most people refer to her as now – basked in the  spotlight, proving yet again that she’s definitely the yummiest mummy in  B-Town. Understandably, the crowd could not get enough of her and  shouts of “Munni! Munni!” could be heard echoing throughout the  showroom.

The evening wrapped-up rather early for Bombay’s standards (around 10:30pm) but not before Bollywood biggies Raj Kumar Santoshi and Boney Kapoor were given a personalized tour of these mean machines.

We wonder if Sridevi is going to get lucky anytime soon???

PARTY PEEVE:

The organizers had just one Bar for  a   crowd of almost two-hundred people. The area around the Bar looked  like   the inside of a Virar Fast Local Train at peak hours, with  everybody   jostling for space and elbowing each other – to get a quick  drink. Not a   happy experience!
