With the mercury rising this summer, Quiksilver India has set out to give Mumbai a dose of Skateboarding, the new cool sport that promises to grip the imagination of Gen next in India. Quiksilver, the outdoor sport fashion brand synonymous with the culture of skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding across the world, hosted a Skate-a-thon at Carter Road, Bandra, to announce the arrival of the brand in India. The carter road amphitheater was abuzz with activity as the crew from Quiksilver gave tutorials and strutted their stuff, with music in the background as the Bandstand culture revival’s Bandra leg corresponded on the same evening. The crowded amphitheater saw The Colour Compound and The Pulp Society play.

Bangalore based British pro-skater Nick Smith along with skater-boys Nialli Birnie and Aaron Revel had the crowds hooked with their skateboarding antics.The 45 minute training session was followed by a performance by trained skateboarders from Mumbai along with Nick, Aaron and Niall doing stunts, flips and jumps on the skate board and skateboarding along the steps of the amphitheater at Carter road.

The Skate-a-thon saw skateboarding enthusiasts from different age groups attend the workshop on the basics of skateboarding. Smith says his goal is to try and make skateboarding available to all skating enthusiasts in India. “I would also like to get the price of skating gear down without compromising on quality.
