Shamita Singha: “The best thing about Sangiovese is that it goes well with Indian food as well as pasta, pizza, red-meat and well-aged cheese.”
Sunday evening saw the statuesque and stunning model, Shamita Singha at Escobar in Bandra West, Mumbai, for the launch of the Sangiovese Italian wine by Reveilo. Looking resplendent in a long maxi, Shamita – who is an expert on wines – invited a number of her celebrity friends for a tasting of this new Italian import.
Swilling their goblets and breathing in the heady aroma of this intense ruby coloured wine with aromas of raspberry, cherry and spice were comedian Ash Chandler with designer girlfriend Junelia Aguiar, Vikram & Nisha Raizada, Kaveer Shahani, Cyrus Sahukar, Gaurav Kapoor, Sameer Kochhar, politician Asif Bhamla and also Aussie fast-bowler Shaun Tait, who was so tall that he practically towered over the rest of the guests.
Winemaker Andrea Valentinuzzi explained the nuances of the wine as having a “Palate which is soft and fruity with finely textured tannins and well balanced acidity, giving the wine a rounded and lingering taste!”
The party didn’t kick-in till well past 11:00pm and a number of Shamita’s famous model buddies were conspicuous by their absence because, “They are in Delhi for a show,” she revealed. However, there were a number of other pretty ladies who partied way into the night – among them singer Shibani Kashyap (in a sizzling black ensemble), model Mashoom Singha and model Sanea Sheikh who came in with a few friends.
