Even as the Maharashtra government creates controversy by increasing the age limit for consumption of alcohol to denizens above twenty-five years old, Mumbai city witnessed the opening of yet another lounge-bar in the suburb of Andheri, aptly called Metro.
Conceptualized and owned by the young Rohan Hegde (who looks no older than twenty), Metro is a decent place to hang out with your chums post office hours or if you just want to hang loose and dance the night away.
Divided into an upper and lower section, the interiors of Metro are comfortable with an army of affable and attentive waiters to take care of your food and beverage needs. What we liked most about the decor were the booze bottles hanging from the ceiling and the upper section which is fashioned after a cozy beach-shack from Goa.
The opening night saw designer and choreographer Rehan Shah (along with his friend Ambika Babbar) host a party for their close friends. Expectedly, most of telly-land turned up since they all live in the Andheri-Lokhandwala-Oshiwara-Versova-Malad area; and a smattering of leggy models as well.
Big Boss contestant Dolly Bindra was the centre of much attention and we particularly liked her blingy earrings with the word “Baby” written across them.
Model Shiffanjali Shekhar showed off the most cleavage in a figure-hugging animal-print dress….
…..while actress Shama Sikandar wore one of her own designs by her label, Saisha.
Also spotted were lovebirds Adam & Nisha Bedi, actor Raakesh Paul, model Alesia Raut, ex-actress Anu Aggarwal (of Aashiqui fame), ex-Miss India Amruta Patki, songstress Carlyta Mouhini, cricket expert Sameer Kochhar, actors Gary Richardson and Alexx Oneil and man-around-town Parvez Damania.
And finally, the sign of a truly happening party is when your guests kick off their shoes – literally – and dance on the tables and sofas, as this rather enterprising lady did (below). We love her infectious joie-de-vivre.
