Time  Out Mumbai and Black Taxi put together a Kitsch Bazaar at Zenzi, Bandra. Whether you’re bringing home or gifting someone quirky items, it’s a lot of fun indulging in kitsch shopping. It’s also a great opportunity to meet the designers behind the products that have brought a smile on your face. One of the kiosks had Spyra Jewels on display. At Spyra, I discovered that along with the evil eye charm, a bracelet with Buddha’s hand can also ward off evil. At the Root, an organic products only kiosk, I learnt the importance of elephant poo. No kidding! MeMore had some really innovative pieces. You could buy a reversible skirt to wear a print one day and a block colour the other. You could also pick up a skirt that can be tied differently to appear as a one-shouldered dress.

Talk about value for money! The Big Bag Theory, if you’ve been wondering was inspired a little bit from The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon is one of their favourite characters. They have superhero coasters speaking alcoholic friendly words, alcohol bottles that double up as lamps. Just don’t ask them who consumed the alcohol and you’re good to go.

Kya Cheez Hai

Kya Cheez Hai was one of my favourite kiosks. I shopped for cable  twisters that have graphics of moustache-d men on them. You could pick  up a table mat that breaks down to four coasters or a pen drive that  doubles up as a band. Talk about quirky utility! Princesse K has a new range of laptop bags in some neat colours and a handbag with a Rubik’s Cube inspiration. That’s not all though. Matsya, Udd and Meri Tapri are showcasing too. Go take a look! It’ll be a shopping experience that  with the promise of a lot of fun. If you’re a new and upcoming  designer, you could probably speak with Black Taxi and showcase at their  next event. 🙂
