Harry Potter creator JK Rowling is all set to give fans the promise of more wizarding adventures as she launcher a cryptic new site, Pottermore.com. As of right now, the website which has created quite a frenzy just features a logo, the two words “Coming soon” and bears Rowling’s signature. JK Rowling’s mysterious website came to life when she sent Harry Potter fans a whole series of clues. She asked fans to enter ten sets of coordinates into a site named secretstreetview.com. A letter was found at each location spelling out the Pottermore name.

Rowling’s lawyer, Neil Blair refused to divulge any details about the website’s content and said “This is not a new Harry Potter book.” With only a month left for the release of  the last movie in the series, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2, this new website has Pottermaniacs across the globe celebrating the return of their favorite wizard.

The website has several owls framing the Pottermore page and if you click on one of them,  you reach a YouTube account with a countdown clock from Rowling set for June 23 at 12pm. It also has the words “The owls are gathering… find out why soon”

Reviewers are calling it the perfect example of web marketing trickery but the trademark which was registered by Warner Bros. two years ago describes Pottermore as a service which provides multiple-user access to a global computer information network and on-line chat rooms.

It could include a meeting place for fans offering games, a Harry Potter encyclopaedia, readings by Stephen Fry and several contests. Fans will also be able to buy the books and see trailers of the new Harry Potter movie.

Potter fansite The Leaky Cauldron has been granted a sneak preview of the content and described it as “one of the most amazing, engaging and breathtaking additions to this fandom imaginable.”What’s more the site’s Twitter account @pottermore has 67,168 followers and its Facebook page has over 6000 likes with numbers increasing by the minute. Being a crazy Harry Potter fan myself, I can’t wait to find out what’s in store for us this Thursday.
