15 Member Crew, 600+ people packed in the club, random rounds of free beer, an extended stage, extra lighting and bumped up PA, you can’t go wrong with a gig like this!

Undoubtedly, one of the best gigs at the blue FROG with the most production I’ve ever seen. It’s amazing how Vh1 pulled this event flawlessly without any mess (I’m talking about the MAB gig in October with around 800 people packed inside.)

I walked in cutting through the long que outside the club at around 10.30pm to see DJ SA playing some popular hip hop tracks.

30 minutes later, the anticipation to see T-Pain was just killing me. I am a hardcore Metal-head. At the same time, a closet Hip Hop fan. And by Hip Hop I mean Old School Hip Hop, Soul & R&B and not the crap like Cale Ocho. I’ve been a Hip Hop fan since I was 9!

As soon as SA’s set comes to an end, I see the T-Pain Crew walking in. 4 Hip Hop Dancers, 2 Body Guards (‘homies’), his manager, DJ, Sound Engineer, and a few others. Clearing the stage in just 5 minutes, T-Pain’s DJ takes over followed by his troop of dancers. A silent dramatic entry and BANG, T-F***ing PAIN.

I never knew the man could dance so well. His set consisted of his collaborations, hit singles, as well as newer tracks. Some sick moves by the dancers in his troop, random rap breaks by the DJ and whole lotta heat on stage. Not forgetting the notable booty dancing! No one really cared about T-Pain’s usage of the debatable Auto Tune or rather, the ‘T-Pain effect.’ The performance overall was tight, to the beat and well rehearsed!

What I didn’t like about the gig? The Set went on for just 40 minutes. Yes, exactly 40 minutes! This was a bummer as people paid a bomb to get to the show. 8/10 songs were basically voice overs and lip syncing. Soon after the set got over, he was escorted back by his ‘homies’ and he just disappeared.

Not sure how everyone else felt about the gig, but I’m still in the T-Pain swing. I went there to hear certain tracks and was blown away with his performance. I’d rate this gig an easy 7/10!

His set-list included Best Love Song, Can’t Believe it, Take Your Shirt Off, Like a G6 and my personal favourites – Bartender, and I’m on a Boat.
