Mr A A Novikov

The Russian National Day was celebrated at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai.  The Russian Counsul General Alexey Novikov was at his cheerful best as he addressed the audience with an adorable “Namaste”. He spoke about the historical background of Indo Russian relations.  He also seemed quite hopeful that the friendship between the nations would grow in the near future.

Cultural Performance by the Russian Dance Troupe

There was an interesting performance by a Russian dance troupe dressed in traditional Russian folk dance costumes.Sanjay Patil, Loksabha MP was at the celebrations. The audience was captivated by the breathtaking dance performance and the unique dancing skills of each performer. Cabinet Minister, Anil Deshmukh appreciated the Consul General’s attempt to greet him in Hindi.

Shama Sikander and Alex O’ Neil were at the event as well. Shama wore a traditional Indian Anarkali that looked great on her. Vladimir Dementiev, Vice Consul and Director of the Russian Cultural Centre also played perfect host to the guests. For dinner, there was a lavish spread that included some Russian delicacies as well.

The evening left me craving for more of that delightful food. The Russian ambassadors in India celebrated the nation’s day of Unity with great joy and pride.
